I met LINA during one of my wanderings in the city of haifa. I saw her working at a small neighborhood market restaurant from a distance, and something in me knew I wanted to approach her. LINA, like many of the people and things I choose to photograph, caught my attention instantly - as if the heart recognizes something the mind has yet to process.

I approached her with my camera and asked if I could photograph her. she said she was working, but that she could step away for a few moments. we walked to an abandoned corner behind the restaurant, where I photographed her - an image that would later become the beginning of a close friendship. usually, encounters like this end for me at the moment of the photograph, but LINA insisted that we exchange contact details.

from that point on, we set out together on a series of wanderings across the country, journeys that stretched into the late hours of the night and often slipped into day. hours in which we exchanged words, walked side by side, and encountered one another’s worlds. this is a documentary project about an intimate friendship that emerged through openness of the heart.
