something about haifa continues to follow me, as if it carries a memory that never faded, only buried itself deep within the layers of my consciousness. this memory pulls me back to my adolescence; a time marked by secrecy, and by a desire to create distance from a world that felt too close, too defined.

haifa was a place where a certain degree of estrangement felt possible, in a very intimate way - a space where I could breathe differently. within its streets and slopes, a form of expression emerged, one that found no room elsewhere, even if it appeared only in brief moments. the city became a refuge, a hope of finding someone with whom I could share something left unspoken. sometimes that hope materialized; other times it only deepened the sense that no remedy would come. and still, within that escape, I encountered parts of myself I had not known before.

this project returns to those moments - from the person I was when taking it, carrying that memory - not only to the peaks, but to what lies on their edges: the instances in which the eye points toward something and toward its absence at the same time. it is a search for a small, fleeting truth, one that may hold pain, yet feels honest and precise.

the work looks at what precedes the moment, at what remains after, and at what unfolds within it - a kind of suspended state, a sensation that feels almost outside of time. this is the atmosphere that emerges in the places that bring me back to the initial impulse that led me to the city. haifa is the point of departure, but through it I learned something about my gaze, and about an inner world that continues to take shape in many other landscapes.
